Composition for halldorophone#5

video, DVD edition 1000, 2009

Stills from the video

The work features a solo performance for the Halldorophone#5 commissioned from cellist / composer Hildur Guðnadóttir that she performed twice in Copenhagen in January 2009.

The video features a cinematic juxtaposition of the two distinctly different performance locations which both have a strong relationship to art. One is a large production hall used by contemporary artists to realize large works, the other is a royal celebration hall where fine art and craft is used to communicate wealth and power.  The locations move in and out of each other with Hildur and the instrument locked as a constant in the center of focus.

Here’s a short excerpt from the video.
